SF Great American Music Hall 5/21/02
The show was great!!! Joe was wonderful, He stopped mid-song several times
to talk with & answer the audience. At one point he even asked for
the house lights to be turned on cause there were some guys in the balcony,
"talking bad" he wanted to make sure they paid to get in, when
they said yes he said they could talk bad if they wanted...everyone was
laughing. When he started singing NYC Girls, he stopped to tell how Eman
& him were chasing the SF cable cars (which he called trolleys) trying
to figure out how to get on, if they had to pay, how to get off lol. Joe
messed up the words to some songs a few times. He sang some songs from
his albums...2 from Eman's album...1 & 1/2 Frank Sinatra songs &
a new song called "Dreams" (or Dreams from my Mother, I'm not
sure which). Cover Girl & 1 other song from someone else. He both
him & Eman drank 1 Cosmopolitan each...then some people bought them
shots (the bartender called the 151's) & tried to get hem to drink
them...after ignoring the people yell shots for a while they finally said
No they wouldn't drink them till the end of the show. Which they did,
Joe said he'd never drink one of those again. After a few mins they finished
the show with "Why".
The show started about 8:15pm & ended at 10:10pm. Joe did not leave
the venue till 11:45pm. I'm not sure when Eman came out. By the time he
came out there were only about 25 people waiting for him...When the show
ended there were at least 50 people. His car was parked right in front.
I almost didn't get to meet him, the last Bart train (subway) left at
12:20 & it was 9 blocks from the venue. Just as my friend & I
were getting ready to leave he came out & the others where nice enough
to let me be first. I had just enough time to get my CD signed & get
a pic with him, then I had to leave Luckily SF blocks are short....I made
it to the station with only 5 mins to spare lol.
